Mucoprotection across gastroenterology, women’s health and proctology
Our scientific approach
Our portfolio is built on one scientific principle: protecting the mucosa. Rather than acting on the body's physiology, our products act mechanically, creating a protective barrier that helps the body restore its own function.
01 · Gastroenterology
Acute diarrhoea
Acute diarrhoea is one of the most common digestive conditions in children and adults. Our gastroenterology portfolio is built on mucoprotection, with products for adults and children.

The condition
Pathogens and their toxins adhere to the intestinal mucosa and alter its function. The gut loses more water than it absorbs, leading to frequent liquid or soft stools and abdominal discomfort.
Our approach
Tasectan® AF combines xyloglucan (tamarind seed extract) and gelose. Together they form a film that protects the intestinal mucosa, reducing the frequency and duration of diarrhoeal episodes. Its effects start from 6 hours after ingestion.
How it acts
- Forms a protective film on the intestinal mucosa
- Limits the adhesion of pathogens, acting like the natural mucus
- Is not absorbed into the bloodstream
- Helps the body recover by itself
Highlights

02 · Women’s health
Uncomplicated urinary tract infections
Cystitis is frequent, especially in women, and often recurs. In the era of antibiotic resistance, we work on an antibiotic-sparing approach that starts in the gut.

The condition
Uropathogenic E. coli is the most common cause of urinary tract infections, and the bowel acts as its reservoir. From there, bacteria can proliferate and reach the urinary tract, which explains many recurrences.
Our approach
Utipro® Plus AF acts mechanically in the intestinal lumen, impairing the contact of pathogens with the intestinal mucosa: the first step for bacterial proliferation and their subsequent passage to the urinary tract.
How it acts
- Creates a protective barrier that helps prevent bacterial migration to the urinary tract
- Targets the intestinal bacterial reservoir behind new episodes
- Has no bactericidal or bacteriostatic properties, so it can be used alongside antibiotics when they are needed
Highlights
- GuidelinesMentioned in the European Association of Women’s health (EAU) guidelines as the non-antibiotic approach to cystitis with the highest level of scientific evidence

Anal fissures
An anal fissure is a tear in the lining of the anal canal. Our approach protects the lesion and modulates its environment, so the tissue can heal.

The condition
The lesion is exposed to friction, irritation and oxidative stress. These factors can keep it in the inflammatory phase and slow down the healing process.
Our approach
Ulkox® is a hydrogel based on Fucocert® (polysaccharide), glycerine, Olea europaea leaf extract and Carbopol 980®. Its components modulate the environment of the lesion and protect it, promoting and speeding up healing.
How it acts
- Provides a scavenging effect towards free radicals
- Moisturises the wound
- Isolates and protects the lesion
- Mildly reduces the pH of the lesion
