Second publication for OLE hydrogel
After the publication of the first paper in which the significant antioxidant activity of Olea europaea leaf extract (OELE) was observed and assessed, we are happy to announce the second publication related to the hydrogel (EHO-85) based on OELE, indicated for the healing of wounds of full and partial thickness.
In this study published on the Journal of Clinical Medicine, the same investigator team assessed the EHO-85 hydrogel moistening ability, antioxidant capacity, effect on pH in the wound bed of experimental rats and the effect on wound healing in a murine model of impaired wound healing. EHO-85 proved to be a remarkable moisturizer and its application in a rat skin wound model showed a significant antioxidant effect and decreased the pH of the ulcer bed from the first day. In addition to that, in mice, the treatment showed superior wound healing rates compared to hydrocolloid dressing.
The authors conclude that EHO-85 can speed up the closure of hard-to-heal wounds due to its multifunctional properties that are able to modulate the wound microenvironment, mainly through its remarkable effect on reactive oxygen species, pH, and moistening regulation.
